TRURO, N.S. – The Saint Mary’s Huskies erupted for five unanswered goals and rallied to defeat the St. FX X-Men 6-4 in an Atlantic University Sport exhibition men’s hockey game on Wednesday in Truro.

The annual AUS pre-season game is a fundraiser for the Truro Bearcats major bantam hockey team.

Mitchell Balmas sparked the Huskies with four goals – including a natural hat trick in the third period – and added an assist. Balmas scored two power-play goals and sealed it with an empty-netter with just over a minute left in the contest.

Dylan DiPerna also scored a power-play goal for the Huskies, and Connor McGlynn added the other marker.

Matt Needham netted two goals – including one on the power play – for the X-Men, who led 3-1 after one period and 4-2 after 40 minutes. Bryson Cianfrone and Sam Studnika, on the power play, also scored for St. FX.

The Huskies outshot the X-Men 32-25.
