Marvell Waithe is the newest member of the Halifax Hurricanes.

The National Basketball League of Canada team signed the six-foot-nine power forward on Monday.

"Marvell is a veteran Canadian player who brings a lot of experience with him having played pro basketball around the world. He can score in a variety of ways; he makes other players better around him and has a high compete level,” Hurricanes head coach Mike Leslie said in a news release.

“I'm excited to have the opportunity to work with Marvell as he can have such an impact on the game at both ends of the floor. We look forward to maximizing his skills here within our team-oriented structure."

Waithe played his college basketball at the University of Arkansas and appeared in 15 NBLC games with the London Lightning last year, averaging 9.3 points per game. He split the 2017-18 NBLC season between the Niagara River Lions and Moncton Magic. The Toronto native averaged 17.8 points, seven rebounds and three assists per game in Niagara before moving to Moncton, where he scored 9.4 points per game.
