The Cobequid Educational Centre Cougars came up against a force to be reckoned with Sunday.

Playing at St. Mary’s Huskies Stadium in Halifax, the Cougars were eliminated from NSSAF Division 1 football playoff contention as they were downed 41-7 by the Citadel Phoenix.

Sunday, Citadel held quarter-time leads of 7-0, 24-7, and 38-7.

CEC’s second-quarter touchdown came by way of the run as quarterback Matt Shannon found some daylight, dodged a few would-be tacklers, and dove into the end zone for the major.

With their semifinal win, Citadel goes on to play in the championship against Sir. John A. Macdonald Flames, who defeated Dartmouth 41-21 in the other semifinal.
