TRURO, N.S. – Perhaps a little home cookin’ will turn fortunes around for the Truro Bearcats.

The Bearcats, who have only found the win column once this season, host the South Shore Lumberjacks in a Maritime Junior Hockey League game on Friday, Oct. 11 at the RECC at 7 p.m.

Truro lost for the eighth time in nine games to start the season on Oct. 10, falling 4-2 to the Pictou County Crushers.

The Bearcats fell behind 3-0 at the Pictou County Wellness Centre, and although they closed the gap to one late in the third period, they could not overcome the slow start and eventually lost their fifth straight game.

Maxime Grandmaison scored a hat trick for the Crushers, including one on a power play and one into an empty net. Evan Gallant also had a power-play goal for Pictou County in front of a crowd of 854.

Caleb Hart scored his first goal of the season for the Bearcats and G Blackmore netted a shorthanded tally for the visitors.

Alec MacDonald made 27 saves in the Truro net.
