TRURO, N.S. – Bearcat of the Week honours go to rookie Bearcat Matt Gordon, who is working hard but is not being rewarded statistically for his efforts.

Last Saturday, his goal gave the Bearcats a mid-game lead before the Crushers came back to win in OT. He was a threat every shift.

Matt got his hockey start in the Pownal minor program through to the end of peewee. In his second season with the Eastern Express major bantams, he showed his offensive flair, scoring 28 goals and earning an Island all-star selection.

A family move saw him suit up with Guelph Gryphons Minor Midgets, picking up 29 points in 34 games. He was drafted by the Kitchener Rangers (OHL) and played five games with that club in the 2017-2018 season, along with time spent back with the Gryphons, and with the Kitchener Dutchmen (GOJHL). He has a full skill set, and like all rookies, is finding his way in the MHL.
