TRURO, N.S. – Truro’s Jared McIsaac has received another prestigious honour in his junior hockey career.

The defenceman for the Halifax Mooseheads has been named alternate captain for Team Orr for the Sherwin-Williams CHL/NHL Top Prospects game, which will be held Jan. 25 in Guelph, Ont.

Ty Smith of the Spokane Chiefs will captain Team Orr, while Andrei Svechnikov of the Barrie Colts is also an alternate. Joe Veleno of the Dummondville Voltigeurs will captain Team Cherry and be assisted by Evan Bouchard of the London Knights and Ryan Merkley of the Guelph Storm.

The 23rd annual event is a showcase of the CHL’s top-40 draft-eligible players as selected by NHL teams.

McIsaac, six-foot-one, 193 pounds, has five goals and 21 assists in 43 games for the Mooseheads this season.

The 17-year-old has represented Canada on the international stage. He played in the 2017 CIBC Canada-Russia Series for the QMJHL team and was also a member of Canada’s gold medal winning team at the Ivan Hlinka tournament.

In his rookie season in Halifax, McIsaac was named the Raymond-Legace Trophy winner as the top defensive rookie in the QMJHL.
