TRURO, N.S. – Two members of the Fundy Thunder have been named to the Nova Scotia minor midget AAA all-star team for next week’s East Coast Ice Jam tournament in Bedford.
Jake Bolger and Kyran Burton will compete in the event, which gets under way on Jan. 9 and wraps up Jan. 13 at the BMO Centre.
The minor midget all-stars will play in the major midget division of the tournament.
Bolger, a defenceman, has a goal and eight assists in 20 games with the Thunder this season. He is an affiliate player with the Weeks Major Midgets in Pictou County and has played in five games with the club. Burton, a centre, is fifth in team scoring with six goals and four assists in 20 games.
The Selects open the tournament on Jan. 9 with a game against the Western Kings at 3:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Truro Bearcats will compete in the major bantam division of the Ice Jam tournament.
The Bearcats, who sit in fourth place in the Nova Scotia Major Bantam AAA Hockey League with a record of 12-9-0-0, open the tournament against the Tri-Pen Ice from Newfoundland on Jan. 9 at 12:45 p.m.
