Sill, Bears come up short in AHL outdoor game

TRURO, N.S. – Zach Sill and his Hershey Bears dropped a 5-2 decision to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Saturday at the Capital BlueCross Outdoor Classic AHL game at Hersheypark Stadium.

Sill, a 29-year-old from Brookfield, is an alternate captain for the Bears.

The Phantoms led 2-0 after one period and 3-1 after 40 minutes. Hershey scored a late third-period goal to cut the deficit to one, however, Lehigh iced it with a pair of empty-net goals in front of a crowd of 13,091.

Chris Connor, with two, Colin McDonald, Alex Krushelnyski and TJ Brennan scored for the Phantoms, while Nathan Walker and Travis Boyd replied for the Bears.

Phantoms goaltender Alex Lyon was the difference, making 41 saves for the win.

The Bears remain in sixth place in the Atlantic Division, eight points behind the Charlotte Checkers for fourth and final playoff spot.
