WALLACE, N.S. – Hockey Night in Canada host Ron MacLean will visit the North Shore this summer as special guest for the Maritime NHLers for Kids celebrity golf tournament.

The event will take place at Fox Harb’r Golf Resort in Wallace, July 24-25.

For more than two decades, Maritime NHLers for Kids has toured the Maritime provinces, connecting more than 600 Maritime hockey stars with minor hockey boys and girls. The goal – getting kids and sticks on the ice, and breaking down financial barriers to the nation’s favourite sport.

For MacLean, who briefly lived in Chester, and whose parents originally hailed from Cape Breton, this will be his second time participating in the event. His appearance at the 2018 tournament was a highlight for all in attendance.

“We are truly appreciative of Ron’s unselfishness,” said event founder and Dallas Stars assistant coach Rick Bowness. “His stature in the hockey world is already legendary, his remarkable generosity with his time is equally legendary.

“By keeping hockey accessible to everyone in a community, we keep hockey a part of every community.”
