The 20-year-old captain for the Truro Bearcats scored four goals, including two on the power play, as his team skated to a 6-3 victory over the Yarmouth Mariners in Maritime Junior Hockey League action at the RECC.
It was the Bearcats fourth straight win – all on home ice – and first loss of the season for the Mariners.
Pickard opened the scoring at 6:31 of the first period. Karter Renouf added another at 8:45 for a 2-0 Bearcats lead after one period.
Pickard had the lone goal of the second, and scored the hat trick goal on a power-play at 7:30 of the third.
After Chris Gorham got the Mariners on the board with a shorthanded tally at 10:29 of the final stanza, Pickard sniped his fourth marker less than two minutes later to restore the four-goal cushion.
Noah McMullin, on a power-play, and Duncan McKie scored less than a minute apart for the Mariners to make it a 5-3 game before Dylan Burton iced it with an empty netter for the Bearcats.
Burton finished with a goal and two assists, while Tyler Pyke had three helpers and rookie Gavin Hart added two assists.
Bearcats goaltender Kevin Resop was busy and made 33 saves. Leif Hertz of the Mariners faced 29 shots.
Attendance was 658.
The Bearcats host the Campbellton Tigers Saturday for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
