McIsaac scored one goal and assisted on another as the Halifax Mooseheads edged the Saint John Sea Dogs 3-2 in a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League exhibition game in Quispamsis, N.B.
McIsaac had only practiced with the team to this point after having his wisdom teeth pulled over a week ago.
The 17-year-old scored on a power play at 8:42 of the second period, hammering one-timer from near the top of the right faceoff circle past Sea Dogs goaltender Alex D’Orio to put the Mooseheads ahead 2-1.
McIsaac had an assist on the game winner with 4:47 left in the third period. McIsaac made a great pinch along the boards to keep the play alive inside the Sea Dogs zone. Justin Barron then scooped up the puck and sent it to Brett Crossley, who scored low to the glove side.
McIsaac, a second-year Moosehead, was a member of Team Canada this summer and helped our country win the Ivan Hlinka memorial under-18 tournament in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
McIsaac scored in the goal-medal game – a 4-1 victory over the Czech Republic.
