TRURO, N.S. – Lindsey Smith of Masstown has been named to the 2019 Nova Scotia Canada Winter Games female hockey roster.
Smith, a defenceman, was one of 20 players named to the squad on Wednesday. Smith’s club team is the Northern Subway Selects of the Nova Scotia Female Midget AAA Hockey League.
The Canada Games team was selected following an evaluation process that included camps and competition. The final roster was compiled in October following the 2018 Atlantic Challenge Cup in Moncton.
“This has been a long selection process but we are very pleased with the roster that we have assembled,” head coach Kirk Tomlinson said.
The Canada Winter Games will take place in Red Deer, Alta., Feb. 23 to March 2.
The Nova Scotia team will hold a pre-tournament conditioning camp during the Christmas break at the RBC Centre in Dartmouth.
