Marshall leads Truro to bantam win at East Coast Icejam

Nicholas Marshall had a goal and an assist as the Truro Bearcats edged the TriPen Ice 3-1 in the opening major bantam game at The Chronicle Herald East Coast Icejam hockey tournament on Wednesday at Bedford’s BMO Centre.

Nik Xidos and Phillip Ballard added singles for Truro. Christian Reardon replied for the Ice.

Dartmouth 1, Prince County 0: Cody Garcin scored in the third period and Mike Fahie picked up the shutout as the Whalers blanked the Warriors.

Novas 4, Eastern 3: Kenzie Cameron tallied twice as the Novas edged the Express. Tyler Peddle and Cadyn Power added singles while Bradley Holden, Caleb MacDonald and Connor MacFadyen replied for the Express.

Dieppe 5, Rangers 2: Cedric Gallant Cormier had a goal and two assists as the Flyers downed the Rangers. Dylan MacKinnon, Joel Gallant, Cooper Cormier and Rowan Hopper had singles for the Flyers while Jarrett Todd and Zachery Jenkins replied for the Rangers.

St. John’s 2, Cole Harbour 0: James Stamp and Owen Wright had goals and Cruz Loughlin picked up the shutout for the Hitmen.

Major Midget

Halifax 3, Newbridge 2: Justin Hardie potted a pair of goals as the McDonalds edged Newbridge’s U17 team. Mitch Comeau had a single for the winners.

Alex Arsenault and Nathan Gagne had Newbridge markers.

Western 5, NSMM Selects 3: Drew Langdon collected two goals and two assists as the Kings edged the Nova Scotia minor midget all-stars. Mason Campbell, Jacob Oake and Brett Urquhart also had goals for the winners. Keir Jordan, Adam Colbourne and Jayden Muise scored for the all-stars.

Valley 4, East Coast 3: Blake Deacon scored a pair and Gregor Yoell a goal and two assists in the Wildcats’ win. Jordan Etherdieg had the other goal for Valley.

Vijay Sahajpal, Noah Rowe and Nicholas Moore scored for the Blizzard.

Action in the tournament continues through Sunday.
