Major bantam Bearcats split weekend games

TRURO, N.S. – The Truro Bearcats settled for a weekend split in the Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League.

The Bearcats downed the Pro Hockey Life Harbour Storm 7-2 Saturday and dropped a 4-3 decision to the Novas Sunday.

Merle Putnam fired two goals and added two assists in the win, while Riley MacKinnon had two goals and a helper. Sam Archibald chipped in a goal and two assists, Jacob Melanson netted two goals and Matthew Hunter had three assists.

Oliver Arnfast made 14 saves for the win.

In the loss, Melanson had a goal and two assists, while Owen Mullen scored twice and Bryson Currie had two helpers.

Ben Estell faced 27 shots.
