TRURO, N.S. – Bryson Currie notched a pair of goals and the Truro Bearcats knocked off the St. John’s Hitmen 5-2 on Thursday in major bantam division action at the Chronicle Herald Ice Jam hockey tournament.

Nick Marshall added a goal and an assist for the Bearcats, while Philip Ballard and Nik Xidos chipped in single markers. Andyn Furmidge had two assists and goaltender Lisa Mombourquette earned the win.

On Wednesday, Truro opened the tournament with a 3-1 win over the TriPen Ice from Newfoundland. Friday, the Bearcats play their final round-robin game against the Dieppe Flyers at 8:30 p.m. at the BMO Centre in Hammonds Plains.
