TRURO, N.S. – The Cobequid Cougars are facing off against the Northumberland Nighthawks in the Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation Division 1 boys Northumberland region hockey final.
Game 1 in the best-of-three series is Wednesday, Feb. 27 in Truro at 6 p.m. Game 2 is Friday at 7 p.m. in Westville and Game 3, if necessary, will be played Saturday at the Colchester Legion Stadium, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The Cougars earned their spot in the regional final after defeating the Dr. JH Gillis Royals 3-1 in the deciding game of a semifinal series last Saturday.
Liam Atwater netted the winning goal at 6:17 of the third period and Braden Gray sealed it with an empty-netter in the dying minutes. Joe Fagioli had the other CEC goal and Steven Jackson made 17 saves between the pipes.
The Royals forced Game 3 after a 3-2 victory on home ice last Friday. Calum MacLeod and Jackson Haight scored for CEC and Cody Patriquin played nets.
