TRURO, N.S. – A pair of Colchester County players have been named to the Nova Scotia Canada Games men’s hockey team.
Truro defenceman Tanner Greatorex and Debert forward Sam Archibald will compete for their province at the Games in Red Deer, Alta., in February.
The 20-player roster was announced this week and also included former Truro major bantam star Jacob Melanson of Amherst, Shubenacadie’s Michael Sack, and Joey Merriam of Milford.
“This has been a long selection process but we are excited with the roster that we have assembled and we’re really looking forward to getting out to Alberta in February,” said head coach Jon Greenwood.
Greatorex and Archibald are both rookies with the Weeks Major Midgets of the Nova Scotia Major Midget AAA Hockey League.
Greatorex has one goal and nine assists in 22 games for Weeks, while Archibald is fourth in team scoring with five goals and 12 assists for 17 points. Melanson leads Weeks in scoring with 16 goals and 14 helpers for 30 points.
