TRURO, N.S. – Four Colchester County players were selected in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League draft on Saturday.

Goaltender Oliver Arnfast, defenceman Tanner Greatorex and forwards Sam Archibald and Merle Putnam were taken during the 14-round draft held in Quebec City.

Arnfast, from Truro, was the highest-drafted Colchester County player. He was taken in the eighth round (140th overall) by the Rimouski Oceanic, while Greatorex, also of Truro, was selected by the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in the 12th round (210th overall).

Archibald and Putnam were 13th-round selections. Archibald, from Debert, was picked up by the Charlottetown Islanders 229th overall, while Putnam, a Masstown resident, was taken by the Halifax Mooseheads three picks later.

Jacob Melanson, who played major bantam in Truro and is also a member of the Weeks Major Midgets, was a first-round selection, 15th overall, by the Quebec Remparts.
