Tibbo, captain of the Truro Bearcats, played a key role during the weekend and helped his team win a pair of Maritime Junior Hockey League games.
Friday, Tibbo had two assists and scored the winning goal in a shootout to lift the Bearcats to a 5-4 victory over the Yarmouth Mariners.
He followed that performance with a pair of goals Saturday as the Bearcats dropped the Woodstock Slammers 5-1.
Tibbo leads the MHL in goals (36) and points (69). He also leads the league in power-play goals (13) and shorthanded tallies (5).
Tibbo is closing in on the franchise record for most goals in a season, which is held by current Bearcats assistant coach T.J. Smith, who scored 41 times in 2005-06.
On Saturday, the league named Tibbo its first star for the month of January.
The 20-year-old from Conception Bay South, NL, scored 10 goals and added six assists in January, including five straight multi-point games.
He netted a hat trick and had an assist Jan. 15 against the Valley Wildcats and added a goal and three helpers vs. the Summerside Western Capitals on Jan. 19.
Woodstock’s Jarred Toole was named second star for January and Yarmouth’s Justin Ritcey was third star. Pictou County’s Dylan Riley was January’s rookie of the month.

The Bearcats roared back from a 3-0 second-period deficit before taking the win in a shootout.
Rookie defenceman Leon Denny was the offensive catalyst, scoring a natural hat trick in the middle frame to make it 3-3 after 40 minutes.
Nic Blanchard put the home team ahead at 8:38 of the third, however, Matt Barron scored at 12:31 to send it to overtime.
After a scoreless five-minute extra session, Tibbo was the lone shooter to score in the breakaway competition.
Truro goaltender Jason Rioux made 28 saves.
Attendance was 953.

Tibbo got the Bearcats off to an ideal start with a goal at 3:21 of the first. Zack Moody and Cameron MacLeod extended the lead to 3-0 after two periods.
Tibbo notched his second of game early in the third, before Woodstock’s Ethan Crossman spoiled Rioux’s shutout bid with just over four minutes left in the game.
Justin Doiron scored into an empty net with just over a minute remaining to ice it in front of 1,136 fans at the RECC.
