BROOKFIELD, N.S. – The Brookfield Elks return to action in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League on Tuesday when they host the Valley Maple Leafs.
Puck drop is 7 p.m. at the Don Henderson Memorial Sportsplex.
It’s been a tough season for the Elks, who have just one win in 13 games. The Maple Leafs have lost six in a row.
Last week against the Cole Harbour Colts, the Elks surrendered a two-goal lead late in the third period and lost 5-4 in overtime.
Former Elk Brady Meech torched his old team with a pair of goals and an assist. Meech found the back of the net with 1:14 remaining in the third to make it 4-3 and netted the equalizer with seven seconds left in regulation. He later set up Josh Moore’s winner at 2:18 of overtime.
Connor Miller, Jacob Roberts, Riley Scott and Jakob Deveau had goals for the Elks.
Brookfield’s lone win this season came on Nov. 3 – a 5-4 decision over the Eskasoni Eagles.
The Elks trailed 4-2 after 40 minutes but got third-period goals from Scott, Cole Fielding and Mikey Willis – with the winner – to cap a come-from-behind victory.
Fielding struck for a pair of goals in the game and Willem Schenkles had the other marker for the home side.
