TRURO, N.S. – Truro Bearcats forward Gavin Hart has been called up by the Halifax Mooseheads for their Quebec Major Junior Hockey League second-round playoff series against the Charlottetown Islanders.

Hart, a 16-year-old from Bible Hill, isn’t expected to play unless needed as an injury replacement.

The Mooseheads and Islanders play Games 1 and 2 on Friday and Saturday in Halifax. Both games start at 7 p.m.

Hart enjoyed a solid rookie season in the Maritime Hockey League with the Bearcats. The speedy five-foot-six, 160-pound forward led all first-year Bearcats in points with 10 goals and 18 assists. He was also second on the team with seven power-play goals.

Hart was a late cut from Mooseheads training camp and was called up to the team for two games during the regular season. He was selected in last June’s draft in the 12th round, 203rd overall.

Hart is one of three Mooseheads with Colchester County connections. Defenceman Jared McIsaac is from Truro and forward Ben Higgins is a Bible Hill native.
