TRURO, N.S. – Truro Bearcats goaltender Myles Hektor will continue his hockey career south of the border, beginning next season.
Hektor has committed to the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellow Jackets, an NCAA Division 3 team that plays in the Hockey Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).
The Yellow Jackets are two-time national champions who, over the years, have made nine NCAA Frozen Four appearances, 13 NCAA tournament appearances, and participated in 16 conference championships. The Madison-based team, coached by Richard McKenna, finished third in the WIAC this year and are currently engaged in playoffs.
Hektor, a 20 year-old from Lake Bluff, Ill., is completing his junior eligibility as a Bearcat. He spent the 2016-2017 season with the Blind River Beavers (NOJHL). Last year he began the season with the Kanata Lasers (CCHL) before coming to the MHL with the Edmundston Blizzard. He played 13 Blizzard regular season games last year, posting a 2.57 GAA and appeared in seven playoff games, helping Edmundston claim the MHL championship.
As a Bearcat, he’s appeared in 32 games and a MHL high in minutes played.
