TATAMAGOUCHE, N.S. – Giving back to the community is part of being a member of the Truro Bearcats junior A hockey team, whether you’re a current or former player.
Tatamagouche native, Dana Fraser, did just that at the North Colchester Rec Centre recently with assistance from current players Dylan Burton, Ryan Porter and Gavin Hart.
About 100 minor hockey players from the North Colchester association participated. Three, one-hour sessions of skill and fun were provided. The day culminated with draws for a Bearcat sweater, stick and game tickets.
Fraser came through the North Shore association prior to playing three seasons with the Bearcats. He finished his junior career with a 91-point season in 2009-2010 and is in career scoring with 193 points, seven behind Stephen Horyl.
He went on to play five seasons of AUS Hockey (UPEI, UNB), then two in the ECHL with the Adirondack Thunder and was a fan-favourite at every stop.
