TRURO, N.S. – Bearcat of the Week honours went to rookie forward Gavin Hart.
In Friday’s 5-3 comeback win over the Miramichi Timberwolves, he picked up the winning goal on a fine individual play, racing a defender to the puck, then going hard to the net. That effort was rewarding.
For the season, he’s picked up four goals and nine helpers, seeing time on the go-to unit.
He came up through the Truro and area minor program, at all times displaying a strong offensive game. At the bantam level, with the Truro Bearcats, he picked up 31 points as a rookie, followed by a 32-goal, 19-assist second season, averaging 1.34 points per game over the 61-game span.
Last year, as a Pictou County Weeks Midget, he scored 19 and assisted on 21 others. The Bearcats selected him as a 2017 territorial choice, as well as being a Halifax Moosehead pick.
After a strong major junior camp, he returned to the Bearcats while remaining a Moosehead affiliate. His adjustment to the junior level has been a good one.
