Bearcat-of-the-Week honours go to forward and captain G Blackmore.

G scored at the 12:15 mark of the first period of the Jan. 31 game in Bridgewater. That ended a goal-scoring drought that went back to the 7:33 mark of the third period in a Jan 19 game. In between, the team was shut out three times. Consider it a huge goal.

G got his hockey start in the Truro minor program right up to two seasons with the Truro major bantam team. During the 2014-2015 season he played with the CEC Cougars, gaining confidence in his game. His rookie season with Weeks at the major midget level was impressive (31 points). His second season was spectacular, earning MVP honours, scoring the most points and most assists. In the playoffs, he scored another 20 points before joining the Bearcats for its playoff run, leading the team with nine goals and five assists en route to a MHL championship and a Fred Page Cup appearance. He also appeared in eight Moncton Wildcats games that season and was with the Wildcats all of last year.

Truro’s 2016 territorial pick, G has been a solid teammate and worthy to wear the C.
