Halifax’s Ryan O’Neil captured his third consecutive world taekwondo championship in men’s second dan last week.

The 22-year-old, a fourth-year engineering student at Dalhousie, competed at the 2019 International Taekwondo Federation world championships, which concluded Sunday in Inzell, Germany.

The world championships are held every two years. He also won in 2015 in Italy and two years ago in Ireland.

Last year, O’Neil was a double medallist at the Pan American karate championships in Santiago, Chile.
