TRURO, N.S. – Talk about a trip to remember.
Truro’s Caden Colburne recently returned from Florida where he competed in the Little Mo international tennis tournament in Palm Beach Gardens.
Caden enjoyed great success in the under-8 division, as he defeated three American players and another from Ontario before bowing out to the No. 1 seed from New York State to claim the runner-up trophy.
Off the court, Caden was thrilled with the opportunity to meet and have a picture taken with Wayne Gretzky. The Great One’s daughter, Emma, was also playing in the event.
Caden’s chance to compete in the tournament came after Tennis Canada invited him to Florida to participate in a development camp prior to the event.
The development camp was a great experience, as Caden enjoyed three days of training with some of the best young players in Canada.
Caden is a member of the Truro Tennis Academy high performance program where he trains with head pro Francis Charest and facility manager/pro Francois Giguere, along with other high performance players Meghna Annand, Sophia Gonzalez, Bishop Thibault, Emalla Desgagnes and Zachary Verboom.
Caden’s success in Florida is a true reflection of the local tennis academy program and the quality of coaching in Truro.
