TRURO, N.S. – Brett Lauther came up big once again for the CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The Truro native nailed a 56-yard field goal with just over a minute remaining in the game to lift the Roughriders to a 30-29 victory over the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday.
“Lauther just comes up clutch again for us, can’t say enough about him,” quarterback Zach Collaros told CFL.CA after the win. “Everybody knows his story. I was with him in Hamilton and saw how hard he works, and he deserves everything that comes his way. Just a great clutch guy for us.”
Lauther, who has been a model of consistency all season, went 3-for-3 on field goal attempts on Saturday and is now 39-of-42, making 92.9 per cent of his field goals.
“You can’t say enough about him,” said head coach Chris Jones. “He’s kicked well for us all year. He’s got big nerves, so it doesn’t faze him to kick in those types of situations.”
Lauther, 27, played high school football at Cobequid Educational Centre before a university career at Saint Mary’s.
