TRURO, N.S. – Truro peewee and bantam teams continued their hot start to the season by posting lopsided victories last Saturday in the Nova Scotia Minor Football Association.
The peewee Blue Bombers slayed the Fall River Dragons 52-6, while the bantam Freightliners downed the Bedford Saints 39-0.
Both local teams are 2-0 to start the season. The Truro Tide atom team played a hard-fought game and fell 8-0 to Bedford.
Following are snapshots of games played last week involving Truro teams:
Bantam
Truro 39, Bedford 0
Liam Legge led the Freightliners with four touchdowns, while Johnathan Seeton added the other major score.
The defence came up big all day with James Seeton grabbing two interceptions and Aidan Johnson snagging one. Eric Fields chipped in with several special teams points.
The Freightliners host the South Shore Seahawks on Sept. 28 at the TAAC Grounds at 2 p.m.
Peewee
Truro 52, Bedford 6
The Truro squad showed a strong performance in all aspects of the game. The Blue Bombers were led by Brayden Doren and Maddox McKay and received strong contributions from first-year Bombers Simon Brown and Cody Hunt.
Next up for the Bombers is a visit from the South Shore Seahawks on Sept. 28 for a noon kickoff at the TAAC Grounds.
Atom
Bedford 8, Truro 0
The Truro defence played well throughout the game and was led by Preston Lattie, who had eight tackles.
The offence struggled in the first half, but really turned it up in the second half, led by Daesean Brown.
The Tide look to bounce back on Sept. 29 when they host the Valley/Fall River Dragons at 10 a.m.
Mite
The Truro mites played two great games at the Dartmouth Jamboree at the RBC Centre football field on Sept. 21.
The first game was played against the Timberlea Titans, who proved to be strong opponents. Truro players worked hard on both sides of the ball and learned a lot of valuable skills.
Truro’s second game was played against the Fall River Dragons, where the defence made big plays and the offence scored a number of touchdowns.
The Sept. 28 jamboree will be played in Bedford. Truro will face Timberlea Titans and Valley Bulldogs.
