Five Nova Scotia athletes captured medals at the Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi.
Kristina Richards (Antigonish) helped Canada to a gold medal in the 4 x 400-metre relay. Earlier in the competition, Richard won a bronze medal in the 200m run.
Jessica Stewart (Lantz) won gold in the 4 x 25m swimming relay.
Krista Stockman (Wileville) took a silver medal in the level 4 golf event.
Anthony James (Truro) was a member of Canada’s 4 x 100m relay team that won silver in the M10 division. James was also fourth in the 100m run.
Stephane Piccinin (Halifax) captured bronze in the 1,500m and was fourth in the 800m M10 division.
Ben Theriau (Liverpool) placed fifth in the 200m run, was seventh in the 100m run and fifth in the 4 x 400m relay.
