Elks rout Blues in final regular season home game

BROOKFIELD, N.S. – The Brookfield Elks erupted for seven third-period goals and went on to pound the Cumberland County Blues 12-4 on Thursday in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League.

It was the Elks final home game of the regular season. Brookfield has had a tough year and entered Friday’s regular season finale in Antigonish with a record of 3-24-0-2.

Caelan Blaikie and Mikey Willis were the biggest offensive catalysts for the Elks on Thursday. Both players pumped home three goals and added four assists.

Mason Jenkins, Austin McBurnie, Jagger Statton, Bailey Fraser, Evan McNea and Ethan Shantz fired other goals for the Elks, while Matt Morefield had two helpers.

Avery Clow, Brodie Deegan, Reuben MacKenzie and Chad Miller scored for the Blues.

Elks affiliate goaltender Mitchell Cummer made 27 saves.
