Cougars win opener at Snowball basketball tournament

TRURO, N.S. – Daryen Reddick pumped in a game-high 24 points and the Cobequid Cougars defeated the Riverview Royals 90-70 in the opening game at the 49th annual Snowball basketball tournament at CEC.

The Cougars return to the court on Friday at 7 p.m. for a game against the CP Allen Cheetahs.

Newt Glasgow added 18 points for the Cougars in the victory, while Ethan Dahr had 14 and Matt Jones scored 13.

The six-team tournament also includes Bernice MacNaughton, Leo Hayes and Charlottetown Rural.

The event resumes on Saturday with semifinal games at 10 a.m. and noon, followed by a game between the third-place teams at 2 p.m. The final is slated for 4 p.m.
