TRURO, N.S. – Make room for more provincial banners at CEC gymnasium.

The Cobequid Cougars achieved unmatched success over the weekend at the Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation track and field championship in Sydney.

The Cougars captured six titles at the two-day event – intermediate girls, combined intermediate, senior girls, senior boys, combined senior and the overall Division 1 crown.

CEC athletes turned in multiple gold-medal performances. Michael Adams led the way with gold in the senior discus and javelin events and silver in the shot-put. All results were personal bests for Adams.

Adams was one of three members of his family to compete at the championships. His sister Leah won gold as a member of the 4x100m CEC relay team and was third in the intermediate 80m hurdles. Another sister, Jenna, competed in the junior division for Truro junior high, winning gold in the triple jump, bronze in the 80m hurdles and bronze in the 4x100m relay, as the family trio combined for eight medals.

Chelsea MacIsaac of the Cougars won gold medals in the shot-put and discus.
