HALIFAX, N.S. – Jared McIsaac and Ben Higgins begin their quest for a national junior hockey title on Friday.

The Colchester County duo are members of the QMJHL’s Halifax Mooseheads, who meet the Prince Albert Raiders tomorrow, May 17, in the opening game of the Memorial Cup at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax. Puck drop is 8 p.m.

The Mooseheads enter the tournament after losing the QMJHL final in six games to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. The Huskies begin their Memorial Cup tournament on Saturday against the OHL champion Guelph Storm, beginning at 4:30 p.m.

On Sunday, Halifax faces Guelph before finishing the round-robin on Wednesday against Rouyn-Noranda. Both of those games begin at 8 p.m. The semifinal is slated for Friday, May 24 ( 8 p.m.) and the final will be played on Sunday, May 26 (8 p.m.)

McIsaac, a defenceman from Truro, scored 16 goals and added 46 assists for 62 points in 53 regular-season games for the Mooseheads in 2018-2019. The second-round pick (36th overall) of the Detroit Red Wings at last June’s draft added 16 playoff points in 22 games on two goals and 14 assists.

Higgins, a forward from Bible Hill, played a checking role for the Mooseheads, and chipped in nine goals and 19 assists in 65 games during the regular season.
