TRURO, N.S. – Two members of the Cobequid Spartans will represent Nova Scotia at the Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alta.

Lauren Boyd, 14, will compete in gymnastics during Week 1  of the Games, beginning Feb. 15, while Jordyn Henderson, 17, will take part in the trampoline competition during the second week.

It will be Lauren’s second trip out west for national competition. She competed at the 2016 Canadian gymnastics championship in Edmonton.

She said she’s looking forward to the overall experience of the Games, “and meeting new people.”

Jordyn is attending the Games after training in trampoline for just over a year. Prior to trampoline, she was in gymnastics.

“I’ve never been to a really big competition; it’s really exciting and I’m excited to see everybody else to see what they can do,” said Jordyn.

Both girls are Truro residents. Lauren is a Grade 9 student at Truro junior high and Jordyn is a Grade 11 student at CEC.

Abigael Brownell, also a member of the Spartans, is a Team Nova Scotia alternate in trampoline.
