TRURO, N.S. – The Cobequid Cougars punched their ticket to the Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation Northumberland region girls’ soccer final on Thursday.
The Cougars blanked the Hants East Tigers 6-0 in a semifinal match at CEC Field.
Cobequid will play winner of the Dr. J.H. Gillis vs. North Nova semifinal in the regional title game on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at CEC Field.
Sarah MacCallum, Lexie Sellers, Emily White, Sophie Shepherd, Lynds and Morgan Walsh scored goals for CEC yesterday, while keepers Sarah Shaw and Erin Sullivan shared the shutout.
The winner of the Northumberland region will host the NSSAF championship tournament Nov. 3 and 4.
In boys’ action on Thursday, the Cougars hammered the North Nova Gryphons 8-1 in a regional semifinal.
The CEC boys will host the regional title game on Saturday at 11 a.m. against the winner of the Dr. J.H. Gillis vs. Northumberland Nighthawks semifinal.
On Thursday, Ben Lauther and Drew Mumford each scored twice, while Connor Grant, Gabriel Tremblay, Graham Thurston and Tobi Oshikoya had single markers.
Logan Bennett had the lone North Nova goal.
