TRURO, N.S. – The Cobequid Cougars begin their playoff quest for a Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation Football League championship this weekend.

The Cougars visit the Auburn Eagles in a conference crossover game on Sunday at Cole Harbour turf field. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.

CEC (5-3) finished the regular season in third place in the Nova Conference, while Auburn (5-3) was second in the Scotia Conference. The Cougars and Eagles met once during the regular season with Auburn pulling out a 20-10 victory in mid-October.

The winner of the CEC vs. Auburn game will meet the Citadel Phoenix in a provincial semifinal game next week. Citadel finished first during the regular season in the Nova Conference to earn a bye to the semifinal.

Dartmouth finished first in the Scotia Conference to also earn the playoff week bye. Sir John A Macdonald (2nd Nova) will butt heads with CP Allen (3rd Scotia) in the other quarter-final crossover this weekend.

The Cougars finished their regular season last Friday, Nov. 1 with a forfeit victory over Prince Andrew, who didn’t have enough players to field a team.
