ANTIGONISH, N.S. – The Cobequid Educational Centre Cougars suffered a 15-8 setback at the hands of the Sir. John A. Macdonald Flames in NSSAF playoff high school football action.
The quarter-final post-season game was played Sunday at Dr. J.H. Gillis High School, in Antigonish due to concerns over a saturated James Macpherson Stadium field.
The Flames held a 2-0 lead over the Cougars at the half.
For CEC, quarterback Michael Adams carried the ball eight times and pounded out 25 rushing yards. He was 11-for-17 in passing for 159 yards, throwing one touchdown and two interceptions on the day.
Running back Andrew Floyd had 10 carries for 45 yards, hauled in five catches for 54 yards and had the lone Cougars’ TD on a 15-yard catch. Sam Hyde caught three passes, good for 59 yards.
On the other side of the ball, linebacker Jordan Waller stacked up eight tackles, defensive end Ivan Gault had five and LB Will Sylliboy had four.
Defensive tackle Logan Watson had two tackles and recovered a fumble and Floyd, playing at defensive back, had two tackles and an interception.
