CEC boys seeking fifth straight NSSAF crown

TRURO, N.S. – The Cobequid Cougars will chase their fifth straight Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation Division 1 boys volleyball title this week on home court.

The Cougars host the eight-team championship at CEC gymnasium Friday and Saturday.

The host side will play round-robin games in Pool A against Horton, Citadel and Sommet. The B Pool consists of West Kings, Auburn Drive, Par-en-Bas and Sackville.

The Cougars open the tournament on Friday with a 3 p.m. match against Sommet, followed by a 7 p.m. match against Citadel. CEC’s other preliminary game will be played on Saturday against Horton, beginning at 9 a.m.

Gold and bronze medal matches will be played Saturday at 3 p.m.

CEC earned the right to host provincials by defeating Avon View in straight sets (25-21, 25-10, 25-13) in a provincial play-in qualifier last week.

Contributors for the Cougars were Noah Boudreau (76 per cent passing efficiency, six service points, seven kills), Nikolas Sante (62 per cent offensive serving, 11 kills, five digs), Spencer Bishop (five service points), Daniel Dahr (three kills) and Aiden Fitzpatrick (27 assists).
