CEC boys basketball team advances to provincials

TRURO, N.S. – The Cobequid Cougars took down the Northumberland Nighthawks 106-69 on Thursday to capture the Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation Division 1 boys Northumberland region basketball title.

The Cougars controlled the tempo throughout the contest and led by 20 at halftime.

With the win, the Cougars punched their ticket to the eight-team provincial championship tournament Feb. 28 to March 2 in the Western region.

The Nighthawks will compete in a must-win game against either Western #2 or Highland #2 to advance to provincials.
