Lindsey and Karlee Burgess are sharing in a provincial championship.
The cousins are members of the Kaitlyn Jones rink out of Halifax Curling Club, that also includes third Kristin Clarke and coach Andrew Atherton. They went undefeated at the 2017 AMJ Campbell Under 21 Women’s Championship, hosted by Lakeshore Curling Club in Lower Sackville.
Lindsey, of Truro, threw lead, and this marked her first provincial championship. For cousin Karlee, of Hilden and throwing second, it was her fifth provincial title.
The team posted wins of 9-4 (Team Stephanie Carson – Berwick CC); 10-3 (Team Kaylee Nodding – Bridgewater CC); 8-5 (Team Cally Moore – CFB Halifax CC); 5-4 (Team Kaylee Nodding); 8-6 (Team Isabelle Ladouceur – Lakeshore CC); and 6-2 (Team Cally Moore), en route to the championship.
The Jones team now advances to represent Nova Scotia at the 2018 Canadian Junior (Under-21) Women’s Curling Championship in Shawinigan, Que., being held Jan. 13-21.
