BROOKFIELD, N.S. — Josh Boulton, a coach in the South Colchester Minor Hockey Association, has been honoured for his work with local kids.
Boulton, a Brookfield resident, received December’s Bernie Lawlor Memorial Coach of the Month Award from Hockey Nova Scotia.
The award is named in memory of Bernie Lawlor, a long-time Hockey Nova Scotia Minor Council regional director for the Halifax zone. It is handed out each month to exceptional teachers of the game who have helped to make the sport better.
Boulton is an active member in the SCMHA and lends his time to two teams within the organization. He is the head coach of South Colchester’s novice intermediate team and the assistant coach of the novice development team.
“He is a fixture at the local rink and goes above and beyond at every team practice to ensure that all of his players are both learning and having fun on the ice,” Hockey Nova Scotia said, in a release.
Boulton played junior A hockey for the Truro Bearcats for three seasons between 1997 and 2000.
