Brookfield rolls to Shaw Cup victory

BROOKFIELD, N.S. – Brookfield Golf Club built a comfortable lead on Day 1 and cruised to a Shaw Cup victory over Fox Hollow at the annual match play competition between the Colchester County clubs.

Brookfield won 19.5 to 4.5 to even the Shaw Cup series at 9-9-1.

Brookfield opened with a 4-2 lead in the 4-Ball matches, with all but one match going to the 17th hole or beyond.

The home side won the alternate shot afternoon session 5-1 to take a 9-3 lead heading into the singles session. After a loss and a half, Brookfield won the final 10 matches to take the title in convincing fashion.

Brookfield had five players who went undefeated with 3-0 records – Mike Penny, brothers Ryan and Cory Sutherland and the father-son duo of Mike and Dane Henderson.

All Brookfield players recorded at least one point.

Fox Hollow will host next year’s competition.
