BROOKFIELD, N.S. – The Brookfield Elks finished their Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League season on Tuesday with a 10-5 loss to the Sackville Blazers.

The Elks took it on the chin this season and managed just one win in 32 games while missing the playoffs for sixth straight year.

The Blazers opened up a 3-0 lead before the game was five minutes old. The Elks got goals from Connor Miller and Morgan MacNeil before the end of the first to make it a one-goal game after 20 minutes.

The visitors regained their lead at 4:12 of the second, however, Brookfield’s Alexander Lavoie and Cole Fielding both scored on 5-on-3 power plays to knot the game 4-4.

The Blazers, however, were simply too good, scoring the next five goals on their way to victory.

Riley Scott had the other Brookfield marker for a three-point night, while Fielding also finished with a goal and two assists. Matthew Berrigan led the Blazers with a hat trick and three helpers, while Nicolas McFarlane added a goal and four assists.

Elks goaltender Ashton Speight faced 40 shots, while his counterpart, Nicholas Bowers, made 23 saves.
