Halifax’s Ellie Black headlines Gymnastics Canada’s team for the FIG world artistic gymnastics championships in Doha, Qatar, Oct. 25-Nov.3.

Black is fresh off a four-medal performance at the World Challenge Cup over the weekend in Paris.

Black, the reigning all-around world silver medallist, won gold in the beam final and added silvers on floor and vault. She took the bronze medal on the uneven bars.

Other members of the women’s team include Brooklyn Moors, Cambridge, Ont; Ana Padurariu, Whitby, Ont; Shallon Olsen, Surrey, B.C., and Laurie Dénommée, Laval, Que.

Halifax’s David Kikuchi is on the coaching staff.

“We are looking forward to worlds this year and our task as a team is to build the road to the Olympics,” said Alex Bard, national team coach for women’s artistic gymnastics at Gymnastics Canada.

“This exciting mix of athletes will have the opportunity to soar and gain valuable experience leading to Tokyo 2020.”
