Royals pitchers strong in Truro minor baseball win over Pirates

TRURO, N.S. – A trio of pitchers for the Royals had their good stuff working and combined to strike out 15 batters in an 11-5 win over the Pirates in recent peewee/bantam division action in the Bible Hill-Truro Minor Baseball Association.
Liam Swan, Owen Carr and Lucas Kelly shared the bump and helped the Royals remain undefeated this season.
Dawson Bird led the winners at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and a single and three RBIs, with Swan going 2-for-3 with a pair of singles. Jayden Cail doubled and drove in a run and Aaron Mitchell had a single and an RBI.
Braedan Croft-Shay singled for the Pirates and Victor Brooks had two hits and an RBI. Pirates pitchers were Croft-Shay and Rjay Toney.
In other action, the Astros got past the Red Sox 9-7.
Logan Roop tripled and scored a run for the Astros and Tyler Foley-MacKenzie scored twice. For the Red Sox, Carson Upham hit a two-run home run and doubled, while Amber Ogden reached base twice and scored a run.
In another game, the Athletics came from behind to beat the Mets 12-8.
Spencer MacLean had a great game in the field for the Athletics and the trio of Keegan Skinner, Angus Quinn and Nate Davison each pitched two innings for the win.
Tyler Murray, Aaliyah Morin and Jakob Schwartz pitched well for the Mets and kept the game close. At the plate, Murray, Fintan Boudreau and Alex Emery each had two hits and combined for six RBIs.
