TRURO, N.S. – Truro baseball fans looking to get their fix this weekend will have plenty of diamond action to choose from.

The Stadium 1 field in Truro will be the site of a four-team U18 (midget) A tournament, which gets underway Friday and wraps up Sunday.

The host Bearcats meet the Sackville Rangers in their first round-robin game on Friday at 6 p.m. On Saturday, Truro plays the Lake Echo Lakers at 10 a.m. and Prospect Mariners at 5:30 p.m.

The top two teams will advance to the final on Sunday at 10 a.m.

The Bearcats currently sit second in the Bluenose provincial league with an impressive 9-3-2 record.

U13

On Friday, the top two teams in the U13 AAA Bluenose league will battle it out at Stanfield’s Diamond, when the Bearcats host the Tri County Rangers for a 6 p.m. opening pitch.

The Bearcats enter the contest in second place in the Bluenose league with a 5-4 record, while the Rangers are perfect this season with a 9-0 mark.

U11

On Saturday at Stanfield’s, the powerhouse U11 A Bearcats host the Hantsport Shamrocks for a doubleheader, with games beginning at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The Bearcats are enjoying a highly successful season and currently sit in second place in the Bluenose league with a 10-1 record.

Senior

The Bearcats, who are fighting for their playoff lives, will host the undefeated Dartmouth Moosehead Dry (17-0) on Friday at the TAAC Grounds, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Truro (5-17) trails the Kentville Wildcats (8-16) by two games in the battle for the fourth and final post-season berth in the Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League.
