Masstown Home Hardware earns peewee/bantam baseball win

GREAT VILLAGE, N.S. – Tim Porter stroked a single, triple and drew a walk to lead the way as Masstown Home Hardware Tide defeated the Yankees 10-4 in recent Bible Hill-Truro Minor Baseball League peewee/bantam division action.

Kohl Lockhart added a pair of singles for the winners, while Andrew Totten worked a pair of walks.

Six pitchers combined on the hill for the Tide. Callum McClellan, Mason Trask and Keegan Skinner pitched for the Yankees.

In other action, the Mets scored 11 times in the sixth inning and outlasted the Pirates 18-11.

Dawson Bird tripled and singled for the Mets, while Jase Langille doubled and scored twice. Tristan Gloade singled, tripled and scored two runs for the Pirates, while Ethan Fleming also scored twice.

In another game, Jake McDonald, Gage Pratt and Isaac Crowe combined to strike out 10 batters as the Blue Jays rolled to an 8-1 victory over the Red Sox.

For the Red Sox, Mike Berry pitched two solid innings and struck out five, while Zach Gloade threw in relief and fanned three. New to the mound, Braden Ledbetter had a good start and struck out a pair.

Tristan Albert of the Red Sox opened the game with a big hit that almost cleared the fence.
