Bearcats await winner of P.E.I.-New Brunswick at Atlantic championships
BEDFORD – The Truro Bearcats are awaiting the outcome of a game between P.E.I. and New Brunswick at the Atlantic Mosquito AAA Baseball Championships, to see who they will face for the crown.
All three teams finished pool play with identical records of three wins and a loss. Truro was awarded first, P.E.I. was second and New Brunswick, third, based on the tie-breaker system.
Eliminated from further play were the host Tri-County Rangers (1-3) and Newfoundland and Labrador (0-4.)
The Bearcats defeated N.L. 11-0 in their final preliminary game this morning.
The winner of New Brunswick and P.E.I. is slated to face Truro today at 4 p.m. in the championship final. In preliminary play, New Brunswick beat the Bearcats 3-1; P.E.I. shaded New Brunswick 6-5; and Truro edged P.E.I. 5-4.

Bearcats suffer first setback at Mosquito AAA championships against New Brunswick
BEDFORD – The Truro Bearcats lost to New Brunswick Saturday afternoon at the Mosquito AAA baseball championships, by a 3-1count.
Truro’s record now stands at two wins and a loss as they play their final preliminary game against Newfoundland and Labrador (0-3) at 10 a.m..
Prince Edward Island (3-1) has completed its four games, while New Brunswick (2-1) and host Tri-County Rangers (1-2) also play at 10 a.m.
Championship round games, once teams are determined, will be played at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. today.
If run differential figures into deciding who continues, with the two remaining games to play this morning, P.E.I. is plus-14; New Brunswick is plus-16; and Truro is plus-2.

BEDFORD - The Truro Bearcats are the only undefeated team at the Atlantic Mosquito AAA Baseball Championships as they posted wins Friday in their first two outings.
The Bearcats, representing Nova Scotia, defeated the host Tri-County Rangers 5-2, and later in the day they edged Prince Edward Island 5-4.
Their 2-0 record has them atop the standings after Friday’s action and they next see action at 5 p.m. today (Saturday) when they face New Brunswick. They wrap up preliminary play Sunday at 10 a.m. with a contest against Newfoundland and Labrador.
Once the preliminary games are completed the teams will be seeded and a championship round will be determined for Sunday afternoon, depending on how the final standings of the round-robin look.
