Intermediate D & D Bookkeeping Bearcats split with Knights

TRURO, N.S. – A three-run sixth inning was the difference as the Truro D and D Bookkeeping Bearcats came from behind to defeat the Windsor Knights 7-5 on Sunday in Game 1 of a Nova Scotia Intermediate Baseball League doubleheader.

The Knights rebounded for a 7-5 victory of their own in Game 2.

In the opener, Brandon Betts went 3-for-3 for the Bearcats, while Mitchell LeBlanc doubled, drove in a run and scored two runs. Chris Richards and Morgan Jobes each added a pair of hits.

Winning pitcher Logan Dowe allowing eight hits and struck out four in a complete-game effort.

In Game 2, Joe MacPherson stroked two hits and drove in three runs for the Bearcats, while Richards went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Richards suffered the loss on the mound. He allowed six earned runs and struck out two.

The Bearcats (3-9) return to action Sunday when they host the Kennetcook Braves (4-8) for a doubleheader, beginning at 1 p.m.
